Kim Hickson Events live on air with BBC Radio Humberside

Today was a great experience chatting to David Reeves live on BBC Radio Humberside which was very scary as it was my first time on the radio. However it was great to introduce listeners to a few New Years Eve cocktails to impress guests. So if you are looking for a few celebratory tipples to see 2017 in then read and and enjoy.

1 ) For starters greet guests with this sparkling little number to get the party started. Taken from the Hendricks Gin menu this is an all round fab welcome tipple.

Forenoon Fizz

1 Tea Spoon orange marmalade

40ml Hendricks gin

12.5ml Cointreau

Half of fresh lemon juice

Champagne Top

How to make: Add all ingredients except the Champagne into a cocktail shaker and shake hard over cubed ice and fine strain into a chilled Champagne flute, top with Champagne and garnish with an orange twist.


2) For an after dinner treat make and shake this classic cocktail for an coffee alternative which will certainly pick up the pace of the party.

Espresso Martini

45ml vodka

25ml Freshly made coffee and hot

22ml Kahlua

10ml sugar syrup (2 part sugar to one part water)

How to make: Shake all ingredients over cubed ice, fine strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with three coffee beans and serve.


3) End the night with warmth and spice with this hot toddy to keep guests away from the chill if your seeing the New Year in outside under the stars.

Squid Bite 

1 part Kraken Rum

3 parts dry cider

Chopped apple

Cinnamon Sticks


How to make: Add all ingredients to a pan and add gentle heat until its starts to simmer (don’t let it boil) and serve immediately or add to a flask to enjoy outside. This is ideal to make in large batches to share, just stick to the ratio of rum and cider but be experimental with the spices and it will be a winner for all.
